Superpower (Power)

EFFECT

Cost 3 JP
Activate 4 PP; full-round action
Sustain 1 PP per round/10 minutes; free action
Range self; Power Resistance no

DESCRIPTION

The superhero can assume the shape of any inanimate object but only if it is within one size category of his own. For example, a mailbox or bookcase is about medium-sized. While in the shape of an object, the superhero cannot move at all, except to shift back to normal shape. Only a Perception check (DC 20) will reveal that the superhero is not actually the object whose form he has taken on.

The superhero does not gain the Hardness of any object he becomes, which means that if he is used as a weapon, he takes half damage and deals half damage to anything he is used to strike. If the superhero changes into something that would have moving parts, he only takes the shape of it, and lacks the functionality.

Enhancements and limitations
  • Enhancement: Electrical (Cost: 2 JP): The superhero can now form machines that carry electrical signals and run-on conventional power, like a wall socket or car battery, without taking damage. The superhero can, for example, change into a computer and plug into a wall, or an electric mower. This enhancement does not grant any form of resistance to lightning attacks. Prerequisite: The superhero must have Machine Form enhancement to buy this enhancement.
  • Enhancement: Internal Combustion (Cost: 2 JP): The superhero can now form machines that run-on internal combustion, including engines and firearms. The superhero can turn into a car that runs on gas or a canon that fire real cannon balls. This enhancement does not grant any form of resistance to concussive attacks or damage from explosions. Prerequisite: The superhero must have Machine Form enhancement to buy this enhancement.
  • Enhancement: Machine Form (Cost: 3 JP): The superhero now has the ability to take on the shape of fully functional machines with moving parts. Thus, the superhero can become a functional door, bicycle, hide-a-bed, car, gun, what have him. Note that the superhero still does not gain the Hardness of any object he becomes, which means that if he tries to fire a bullet as a gun, and don’t have adequate DR, he is going to be in for a world of hurt. The superhero can, in theory, become an electronic device, but his parts are still basically organic, so any electrical flow would cause damage, and only a thorough understanding of electronics (5 ranks in the Knowledge: Technology skill) would be allow him to construct such a system.
  • Enhancement: Mobile Objects (Cost: 3 JP): When the superhero is in the shape of an inanimate object, he can move in any way reasonably possible for the object. As a chair, the superhero could run on his legs, a tire could roll itself, a rope could slither like a snake, etc. If the superhero was a complex object, he could operate under his own motive power. For instance, if the superhero changed into a car, he could drive around on HIs own. If the superhero changed into a revolving door, he could revolve himself. Note that his speed in any form is limited to his normal movement rate. Just because the superhero is a self-propelled car doesn’t mean he can now cruise around at 100 mph. However, if the superhero were a bicycle, someone could certainly pedal him faster than his normal movement rate. And if the superhero could handle the damage from the heat and explosions of an internal combustion engine, someone could gas him up as a car and drive him at normal speed.
