Life monks seek perfection through helping others. By focusing their meditations on the flow of life within themselves and all creation they gain an understanding of how to share their ki with others, healing wounds and even bringing the dead back to life. For such a monk, sacrificing himself to save another is the surest way to achieve transcendence.

The life monk is an archetype of the monk class.

Class Skills

A life monk adds Heal to her class skill list, but loses Intimidate as a class skill.

Healing Palm (Su)

At 1st level, a life monk heals her allies by touch. As long as the life monk has 1 ki point in her ki pool, any time a life monk touches an ally, she heals an amount of damage equal to her martial arts damage plus her Wisdom modifier. The life monk can also perform healing palm on herself, doing so only requires a swift action. A life monk can use healing palm equal to her number of iterative attacks. A life monk can use this ability a number of times per day equal to 3 plus her monk level plus her Wisdom modifier.

This ability replace bodybuilding.

Superior Ki Pool (Su)

At 1st level, a life monk gains a pool of ki points, supernatural energy she can use to accomplish amazing feats. The number of points in a life monk’s ki pool is equal to double her monk level + her Wisdom modifier. As long as she has at least 1 point in her ki pool, she can make a ki healing strike. At 3rd level, ki healing strike allows her unarmed attacks to be treated as +1 for healing (for example, healing palm would heal for 1d6 + 1 + Wisdom modifier). At 7th level, her unarmed attacks are now treated as +2 for healing. At 10th level, her unarmed attacks are treated as +3 for healing. At 16th level, his unarmed attacks are treated +4 for healing. At 20th level, his unarmed attacks are treated +5 for healing.

By spending 1 point from his ki pool as a swift action, a life monk can make one additional healing palm at his highest attack bonus when using flurry of blows.

The ki pool is replenished each morning after 8 hours of rest or meditation; these hours do not need to be consecutive.

In addition, a life monk can spend ki points to increase the healing dice by 1 dice per point spent (to a maximum of 5).

This ability replaces flying kick and ki pool gained at 2nd level.

Clear Mind (Ex)

At 5th level, a life monk can regain her ki pool quicker. The life monk must be relaxed and must be free from overt distractions, such as combat raging nearby or other loud noises. For example, she could be riding in the back of a carriage and benefit from this ability. The life monk does not gain this recovery if she is asleep or unconscious. The life monk regains 1 ki point per hour.

This ability replaces zen.

Ancient Healing Hand (Su)

At 7th level, a life monk can heal another creature’s wounds with a touch. As a standard action, the monk can spend 1 ki point to heal a number of hit points equal to double the monk’s level. She needs at least one hand free to use this ability, and cannot heal herself. If the action is interrupted, the subject heals no hit points, and the ki points are lost.

This ability replaces greased lightning.

Ki Sacrifice (Su)

At 11th level, a life monk can use half her entire ki pool to bring a person back to life. It takes 1 hour to perform this ritual. At the end of the ritual, the life monk sacrifices half of her ki pool (rounded down) in order to cast raise (as the spell) with a caster level equal to her monk level. The ritual uses half of the ki in the life monk’s ki pool; the life monk must have at least 6 points of ki in her ki pool to use this ability. At 15th level, the life monk may sacrifice her ki to cast arise. The life monk must have at least 8 points of ki in her ki pool to use this ability. When this ability is used, the life monk’s ki pool is not replenished until 24 hours have passed but can still regain ki by the clear mind class feature.

This ability replaces lifefont.

True Sacrifice (Su)

At 20th level, in a final selfless act, a life monk can draw in her entire ki, which then explodes outward in a 50-foot-radius emanation. All dead allies within the emanation are brought back to life, as if they were the subject of a full-life spell with a caster level equal to the monk’s level. When the life monk does this, she is truly and utterly destroyed. A life monk destroyed in this way can never come back to life, not even by way of power of a deity. Furthermore, the life monk’s name can never be spoken or written down again. All written mentions of her name become nothing more than a blank space.

This ability replaces perfect self.
